Who we are looking for:
NRSI is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to help maintain a safe and healthy workplace. The role involves assisting in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a proactive safety culture. The position requires close collaboration with management, HR, and staff, along with strong communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
The primary duties and responsibilities for this role include:

The primary duties and responsibilities for this role include:
- Assist in development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies and procedures at NRSI.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations and safety standards.
- Manage the internal health and safety onboarding for new staff, assist in Developing training materials, deliver safety training sessions including office tours and initial training.
- Manage the internal Health and Safety platform, ensuring training completion, certificate tracking, and accurate documentation.
- Handle subcontractor pre-qualifications and ensure adherence to performance metrics.
- Manage health and safety onboarding for new clients, including policy updates, ISN setup, and document revisions.
- Oversee compliance and updates on client platforms such as ISN and Avetta.
- Support the implementation of safety programs, ergonomic assessments, and job safety plans.
- Assist in incident reporting, investigations, and follow up, including the preparation of safety reports.
- Maintain safety records, and support emergency response planning.
- Complete internal audits (i.e., Daily Job safety plans, vehicle circle checks, worker observations etc.).
- Assist with managing WCB claims, injury reporting, and return-to-work programs, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Promote a positive safety culture through communication, training initiatives, and employee recognition programs.
- Stay current on legal requirements and legislative changes to ensure NRSI remains compliant with safety standards.
- Chair and participate in Health & Safety Committee meetings, ensuring regular meetings and inspections, and follow up on action items.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- A Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably with an Environmental consulting firm.
- Strong knowledge of OHSA and other health & safety regulations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organization and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and still be a great team member
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License
