Your Contribution to NRSI
NRSI is looking for a locally situated, motivated and independent individuals to conduct monitoring activities in the field, primarily searching for bird and bat carcasses at operating wind energy facilities. These positions provide an opportunity to gain experience in visual bird and bat identification, to implement scientific methods, and to collect and analyze data employing a high attention to detail. This position will report to one of NRSI’s Renewable Energy Project Managers or Field Coordinators.

The primary duties and responsibilities for this role include:
- Taking well-organized and detailed field notes,
- Communicating frequently and as required with project managers, other field staff, and clients,
- Safely collecting and handling bird and bat carcasses,
- Conducting searches according to a strict schedule and safely collecting and handling bird and bat carcasses.
- Occasional assistance with other field- or office-related tasks.
Your Education:
- A degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences. Similar educational experience will also be considered.
- Willing and able to work under inclement weather, in a variety of environmental and vegetation conditions, and occasionally for long hours.
- A good work ethic and positive attitude, dependability, flexibility, and excellent communication.
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, including the maintenance of well-organized and detailed field notes.
- A valid driver's license and over 21 years old in order to drive a rental vehicle.
- Able to safely drive on rough roads and terrain.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Ability to work independently on a regular basis. This job may also require some overtime based on project work requirements.
- Able to reliably commute to the field work location on a regular basis by the start date.
Assets:
- Experience completing surveys for pollinators/insects, herpetofauna, birds, and mammals.
- Demonstrates interest in wildlife and the environment, including the desire to pursue a career in this field.
